It doesn't want to stay open on its own and the metal teeth (which are very, very sharp) pull out of the base when you attempt to wipe them clean. It's pretty apparent that it will break before it's very old. There are better models out there. I tried this one because of the way the sharp teeth are covered when it's closed. It hurts like the dickens when you accidently stick yourself in the finger while picking it up, much less poking your eyelids. It looks like it is made of my favorite eyelash separater- safety pins! It has very sharp tips, so be careful, but it will squeeze between my thick eyelashes easily. It is simple to clean all the gunk off, too, plus the teeth won't break off like with a plastic comb.
